1966 MG MGB Roadster. Condition is Used. I had purchased this car from a small dealer in Florida for a friend but when I got it back here I found several problems I had to fix - the worst of its problems which was defective wiring. Digging into it I found several shorts behind the dash. In the process of rewiring I found the car had been converted to neg ground, the engine replaced with the transmission. The engine in it now is from a 1972 vehicle and so it now has an electronic neg. ground tach and the w spd trans has a sychro low but no overdrive. The overdrive switch hole to the left of the steering wheel has been enlarged and a voltmeter now keeps an eye on the electrical system which is now a single wire type alternator which seems to work fine. In addition to the re-wiring, the rear brakes were replaced, the parking brake cable was replaced, all brake flex lines (front & rear) were replaced, the carbs were rebuilt, and the transmission mountings was renewed. It now seems like a good serviceable car, starts right up & runs strong. Two only two residual item in need of attention are the tach and the fuel gauge. |
