The restoration quality of this California since new example is absolutely beautiful. This is offered for sale for the first time in 56 years. This Continental had a period performance modification that is documented in original photographs. The father of the owner acquired this Continental in Southern California in 1963. Photos reveal that this motorcar was a rust-free and thoroughly complete original car. We have included numerous copies of the photos of the Before, During and After that document the thoroughness of the restoration. The restoration was performed by Murray Motor Car in Monroe, WA. In total, the Murray brothers restored four Classic Era motorcars for the family. Their work quality speaks for itself and is absolutely breathtaking. Using CCCA or concours judging, this would average about 98 points and could easily perform better with minor detailing. The exterior body and paint are excellent in every respect. The maroon livery is beautiful and is thoroughly wet sanded and polished for show. The chrome on this Lincoln is gorgeous! The 1940 Lincoln Continental is definitely one of the best designs of the pre-War period. The lines of the car are perfect from front to back. The convertible top is finished in tan Haartz cloth. The interior is replete with a light tan leather that is as soft and supple as if it were installed yesterday. There is no evidence of wear or use anywhere in the interior. All the instruments are as-new and work well except the clock, which is presently non-operational. The gas gauge may or may not be functional as it has limited fuel in the tank. We love the art deco inspired dashboard. The Lincoln powertrain is the 12-cylinder engine with power delivered by three-speed manual transmission. It has an Eldelbrock manifold and twin carburetors that were installed shortly after it was new that really add to its performance. And it looks and sounds great, too. This example drives as-new in every respect. It is without rattles and vibrations, accelerates well, brakes well and performs as it should. The engine compartment is very well detailed. The chassis is beautifully detailed and is better than it ever was when new. For more information, please call or text Harry Clark at 1.602.245.7200 or email us at . The Lincoln is available for inspection at our Phoenix, AZ showroom.
