In 1964 and 1965 the GTO was a sub model of the Lemans. Starting in 1966 the GTO was a stand alone model. This is a real GTO with PHS documents to prove its heritage. This car came with a 390 CI engine, 4 barrel, and 4 speed with 390 poi’s rear. It now has a 428 (from a 1969 Grand Prix), a 5 speed tremec, and 3.55 poi’s rear differential. The engine was rebuilt by a professional rebuild shop, and now has 2001 miles on it and new 5 speed transmission as well as the rear diff. I am the 5th owner of this car and have owned it about 11 years. I have owned 4 65 GTO’s and they are hard to find. The car has had patch panels in the floor and the trunk was replaced. The body is solid as is the frame. The dash lights, radio, heater, turn signals, reverse lights, tachometer all work. The wipers work but are unplugged because at times they will not shut off. The horn does not work, and the odometer works but speedometer needle is erratic. The paint is in great driver quality with a few chips and nicks, but does well at car shows and cruises. The interior was redone 5 years ago, but does not get driven much and looks new. Make arrangements to come look at it as opinions vary. If your serious this will not disappoint. The car has original rally 1 Pontiac wheels, front tires new rear tires 50%. Windows all roll and work as they should. Just a great car, remember it is over 55 years old so don’t expect something new.
