The Karmann Ghia was conceived as a stylish and sportier alternative to the Beatle. The Karmann Ghia combined the chassis and drive train of the Volkswagen Beetle with the Italian styling of Carrozzeria Ghia and hand-built bodywork by the German coachbuilder Karmann.
