I am selling my PROJECT 1973 Dodge Dart Sport 340. I purchased this car from a storage yard where it had been sitting for the last 10 years. It is now currently registered in California and I have a clean title in my name. This is a very well optioned and original car. It is a factory 340 car and it still retains it’s numbers matching engine. Its options include 340 4 barrel engine, torqueflite automatic transmission, bucket seats with center console, factory air conditioning, hood scoop, ½ vinyl top, black stripes, duel exhaust, and fold down rear seat. Fender tag is still attached under hood (see pic). The car starts, runs, drives and stops. I have not driven it more than just around the neighborhood. It idles nicely, does not smoke or overheat, transmission shifts correctly in all gears. The following is a detailed description: BODY:. Car still wears its original yellow paint and black stripes and hood scoop. The original half black vinyl top was removed . It had some surface rust under the vinyl and a couple small holes. I wire brushed, POR 15 putty’d the small holes and treated the top to a rust converter type paint. Then sanded, smoothed and painted with semi-gloss black paint. I would say the top is ready for new vinyl to be installed. If new owner wanted to keep a painted top, It would need some more finish work. All trim on roof and drip rails were removed and re-installed. Original paint shines and has nice patina but car has dents that need to be addressed before re-paint. Very solid body, floor pans, trunk pan(treated with rust converter for surface scale),and undercarriage are rust free. There is some slight beginnings of pitting behind passenger side rear wheel(see pic) Car still gets lots of complements. MECHANICS: Original 340 runs pretty well. I rebuilt original thermoquad carburetor , installed a set of spark plugs, changed oil. Still need fine tuning and deserves complete tune up (wires, rotor and cap..etc) Added 1 quart of transmission fluid and car goes in and out of gear as it should, shifts thru all forward gears(kick down works) and reverse as well. Replaced power brake booster and brakes work and feel good(front disc). Alt is charging and all lights work, including amp gauge and temp gauge. Gas gauge does not work. Radio does not work. Car is fairly quiet with dual exhaust with stock mufflers, though there are a couple small holes in piping. WHEELS AND TIRES; has a set of Alum slotted mags in fair shape. Has 4 brand new 195/70-14 tires mounted recently so I could get the car on my trailer. INTERIOR: Interior is all there but needs to be redone. headliner looks OK, and rear (fold down) seat looks OK. Carpet, dash, front seats need re do. CONCLUSION: This is a project car. It has great potential and the completeness, and the originality make this a great candidate for a restoration. Also being a California car will make the restoration a little more affordable. I have set what I think is a very reasonable Buy It Now price, and the reserve is set close to that amount.
