CAR DESCRIPTION FROM SELLER
1977 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Vehicle Information Video Description 1977 Cadillac Eldorado BiarritzDespite 11 model years as Cadillac’s richest two-door model, the Eldorado’s popularity continued in 1977, uninhibited by rising gas prices earlier in the decade. This example is one of Cadillac’s Biarritz models, the Eldorado’s luxury package (code B). It is a low mileage example showing 23,397 miles on the clock, sold mileage exempt due to age. Made during the fourth week of April 1977 at GM’s Detroit, Michigan (VIN code Q) factory, this Eldorado is dressed in Cotillion White (code 11) with a matching Elk Grain Vinyl Cabriolet Padded Roof with French seams along the rear and formal quarter windows plus opera lamps (code 11T). The car’s body is solid and straight and features a sunroof from American Sunroof Corporation (ASC).The rear window has a grid defroster, the engine bay is extremely tidy, the battery appears new and the car’s chrome bumpers are in good, original condition. This big Cadillac rolls on American Classic wide whitewall radials, size 235/75R15 all around. Each tire is mounted to a steel wheel topped with body-colored, full-width wheel covers. All tires and wheel covers are in very good order.Under the huge, counterbalanced hood is Cadillac’s new-for-1977 425 CID V-8 (VIN code S) (code L33) with four-barrel carburetor. Buttoned to this motor is a Turbo Hydramatic 400 three-speed automatic transmission. As expected, this Cadillac has a long list of driver convenience features – automatic climate control (A/C compressor is not engaging), power steering, power disc brakes, cruise control (code C), power windows, power locks, power sideview mirrors, Soft-Ray tinted glass, power six-way driver and passenger front seats, automatic level control (code L), Dual Comfort 50/50 split front seat (code W), door edge guards (code D), illuminated entry (code Z) and vanity mirrors (code G) and an ASC sunroof (code S).Inside, the car has a striking color combo, white leather door panels and headliner with crimson carpet, leather seats with contoured pillows and dashboard (code 014). The 50/50 split-folding seats with Sierra Grain leather and power assists are in overall very good order, as is the matching carpet. The headliner is in good, original order. The factory, two-spoke steering wheel looks great, as do those white door panels and that red dash with a strip of gauges and warning lights across the top. The shift lever with its large knob is in good, original order and completing the interior is a factory AM/FM stereo plus a clock. Power antenna is inoperable. For 1977, the Eldorado received a new grille with a finer crosshatch pattern. New vertical taillamps were relocated to the bumper-fender extensions. New ‘Eldorado’ block-lettering appeared on the hood face and new horizontal side marker lights with ‘Eldorado’ block-lettering replaced the 'Eldorado' script on the rear fenders. The convertible was dropped (although Custom Coach of Lima, Ohio converted a few new 1977 and 1978s Eldorados into coach convertibles using salvaged parts from earlier models). The 500 CID V-8 of 1970–76 gave way to a new 425 CID V-8.Unlike the Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham and De Ville, which both boasted the opulent d'Elegance luxury package, Eldorado did not offer a similar plush option. This was rectified late in the 1976 model year with the Biarritz (a name last used for the 1964 Eldorado convertible) package. The car featured unique exterior trim and the rear half of the cabriolet roof was covered with a heavily padded landau vinyl top accented with large “opera” lights. The 1977–1978 interior featured “pillowed”-style, “tufted” leather seating, while the 1976 interior did not. As with other Cadillac models, special order contrasting upholstery piping and exterior colors were available.Coupe competition to this Cadillac in 1977 included Buick’s Riviera, Cadillac’s Coupe de Ville, Chrysler’s New Yorker and Newport, Dodge’s Royal Monaco, Lincoln’s Continental Coupe and Mark V, Mercury’s Marquis Brougham and Oldsmobile’s Toronado Brougham.Big, brash and blaring, Cadillac’s Eldorado demanded attention throughout most of the 1970s. Wealthy empty-nesters, a bachelor and his golf buddies or a Cadillac fan who desired a long-distance Interstate tourer when money was no object. Cadillac collectors, those who seek 1970s-era cars and those who remember when Cadillac was still considered to be the Standard of the World, should drop by MotoeXotica Classic Cars and check out this spry Eldorado Biarritz.VIN: 6L47S7Q276670This car is currently located at our facility in St. Louis, Missouri.
