CAR DESCRIPTION FROM SELLER
Thanks for looking!Up for sale is a 1974 Chevrolet El Camino that belongs to my brother. He got the car on his 16th birthday as a project but never really took interest. It's sat for over 5 years and when I came back from the military I took it upon myself to get it running. It has a 283 out of a 1940s street rod that runs great with a brand new Edelbrock carburetor and fresh rebuild turbo 350 tranny. The car used to be a 4-speed and still has the clutch pedal but now there is a B&M shifter I installed that would need a little bit more reinforcement on on tunnel where it's mounted. It should also have a new shifter cable and the correct shifter bracket installed but it does shift through the gears now. The rear end is a 10 bolt posi with what I believe are around 3.70 gears. The seats are out of a newer Chevrolet and are fully adjustable electronic but will need to be wired up and mounted. Only the driver side is mounted currently. The previous owner had a 454 Big Block in it and used it for a little drag racing (no cage or anything like that) a bit so he had a lot of extra gauges installed. I'm sure they work they just need to be hooked up but the wiring has been spliced way too many times under the dash. I was starting to wire up a new fuse block in the engine bay, shown in the pics on the pass wheel well. It wouldn't take much, just a new power wire run to the dash. The bed is in decent shape, there was a couple small rust holes that I patched over with steel panels and formed to the bed shapes so you can barely see them. The whole bed has been covered with Rhino liner and looks pretty good. The rear tailgate opens nice and the handle works but one of the cables is broken. What's new and what it needs:-great running 283 from a street rod with fresh rebuilt 350 turbo trans-Used B&M shifter, custom trans bracket, custom mount on tunnel-New brakes; discs, pads, both calipers, wheel cylinders, shoes, some lines, turned drums.-New, rebuilt alternator-New fuel pump-New fuel filters and lines from the frame up.-New water pump and both radiator hoses-New radiator and trans cooler lines.-New Edelbrock 650 electronic choke carb-New Edelbrock air cleaner-New voltage regulator-New AC Delco shocks all around-New battery and very heavy gauge power and ground cables to engine and frame-New starter-New torque converter-Fresh oil change-New chrome engine and trans dip sticks-New spark plugs and wires-New distributor cap, rotor and ignition module.(Yes, no stupid points to mess with)-New chrome pulley set and alternator mounts-New tube headers, Magnaflow welded mufflers with 3" sidepipes. (Sounds great, not too loud or raspy, deep rumble)--Edelbrock chrome valve covers with new breather and oil cap--New front spoiler-New formed carpet, needs complete install.-New u-joints-New wheel bearings-New front rubber brake hosesNeeds:-The electric choke needs to be adjusted for cold climates. The car hasn't idled long enough so I never added more trans fluid. Then it got cold here in MN and I haven't worked on it for a couple months.-I bled the brakes but just to be safe, it should be done again.-The steering damper/shock is damaged and should be replaced (cheap, easy)-I didn't replace any steering parts but i have new AC Delco tie rods for it. ( But is ok now)-Steering wheel needs to be tightened down.-My brother lost the key so I had to drill the ignition to get it out of storage. It currently has a kill switch and a toggle for the starter under the dash. It would need the new ignition cylinder installed. (Included)-The rear U-joint needs the correct clamps, although the front yoke and both joints are brand new.-There is no blower motor or resistor but I think the core is there. The dash controls are there. The blower wasn't there when we got it.-The body is fine for a daily driver but not perfect. It has small scratches and tiny dings here and there.************* RUST *************THIS IS A MIDWEST CAR!WE DO, UNFORTUNATELY USE SALT ON OUR ROADS!This is not a rust-free Arizona car, this has rust in the usual spots for El Caminos, but the frame is good. SEE PHOTOS!Thanks for looking and feel free to ******MAKE REASONABLE OFFER*****On Jan-16-20 at 09:43:06 PST, seller added the following information:Mileage listed is NOT actual due to the fact the car has had three different drivetrain combinations and the gauges have been modified by the previous owner.VIN number can be provided if requested.Just a reminder, there IS rust in the common spots El Caminos are known to rust, but the frame is solid. Thanks,Cale
