CAR DESCRIPTION FROM SELLER
The project consists of a 1930 Model A Briggs Fordor 3 window sedan body and its' original chassis with California title (pink slip). The vehicle has been stored in-doors since Nov. 1981 when it was purchased in California and moved to Northern Nevada. Modifications to the chassis began in 1996 when I acquired the project and changed the direction from a restoration to a street rod. As of now, think of it as a hot rod starter kit. Much of the heavy lifting is done, and done properly. But, there is nothing that can’t be undone and design, build quality and outcome can all be decided by a new owner. The frame has been fully boxed and is equipped with a placeholder 5.0L SBC engine and 700R4 transmission, a four row brass/copper radiator with trans cooler, original radiator grill shell, and 8” Ford differential and Corvair independent front suspension (previously used on a Model A roadster). A frame mounted underfloor power brake master cylinder and brake pedal assembly is installed but is not plumbed. There is no electrical wiring, steering or exhaust. It rolls but does not run. Other mechanical parts, such as a 1992 5.7L truck long block engine core, an extra 3.40:1 rear center section, two HEI ignitions, a box of pullys and much more will come with the sale. Boxing plates and the Chassis Engineering transmission K-mount were welded while on a frame machine at Nevada Frame in Carson City. The rear coil over shocks and four link suspension are from Chris Alton’s Chassis Works. Installation and welding of those parts was done by a certified welder at my shop. The Corvair IFS is correctly positioned under the frame but is not bolted or welded in place. That's to allow returning to a straight axle or adding a Mustang II conversion with disc brakes if desired. The body is supported on wood pallets over a metal bed frame and can be easily moved. Paint work was done by teenagers “in the day”. That might add character, but it makes taking photos or video to show the excellent, undamaged quality of the body parts difficult. Metal body parts are solid with some surface rust but no serious (cancer) rust. There are a few minor dents on the rear of the body. Most wood appears intact and I have repaired the main spar on the driver’s side. Original steel fenders, doors, window garnish and hardware, running boards and aprons, rear valence, spare tire carrier, bumpers, headlights, and hood are present and in good used condition. Roof fabric, window glass, seats, door cards and fabric interior are all missing. Drip rails and driver side window garnish are also missing. See the photos for most sheet metal parts included with the project.I’ve been collecting parts for this project for years and it’s not possible to show everything that comes with the project in the limited number of pictures I’m allowed to post here. For example, the contents of 30 small boxes of original nuts & bolts saved when the car was disassembled. Plus, I have two steering columns (one tilt/telescopic), an extra rack & pinion steering. aluminum valve covers, electric radiator fan and lots more. If you have questions, or want to see more photos, please contact me through eBay messages or do an internet search on the complete auction title. As it sits, the cheapest, quickest and easiest way to finish the project is as a Fordor all steel street rod, but many other options are open. For example, at one time I considered making a four door open car (phaeton style) out of the sedan body. Also, it might be possible to fit a roadster, coupe or pickup body on the chassis and use sheet metal from the sedan and have a full fendered rod. Or part out what you don't want and move on from there. The listing is on for 30 days if not sold earlier. I welcome an on-site inspection of the project by a buyer or inspection service. I require a non-refundable $150 deposit within 48 hours of auction ending to cover the listing fee and hassle of relisting the project if a buyer backs out. I will need a bank (cashiers) check or cash payment at pick-up.
