CAR DESCRIPTION FROM SELLER
1965 Ford Mustang GT ConvertibleVIN: 5F08A753618Beautiful 1965 Mustang GT (FACTORY GT) Convertible with factory pony interior. This car was restored to its' original factory color of Ivy Green. The interior from the factory was "Palomino Luxury Interior," commonly referred to as Pony Interior...Palomino was Mustang-speak for tan. This Mustang underwent a complete restoration with NOS parts that was completed in 2013. The engine was rebuilt, bored 30 over and had hardened valve seats installed for ease of use for unleaded gas. Very high attention to detail is the hallmark of this car's restoration as can be seen by the use of Ford chalk marks, paint marks, and various stampings such as "paint ok."The engine is painted black which is correct as Ford did not transition to painting its' engines blue until 1966. It sports the chrome dress-up kit and has the correct 4 barrel carburetor for the "A" code engine. It is mated to the C4 automatic transmission. Significantly, this car has the 3.00:1 locking differential as an option. The date code indicates this car was born on 8 June 1965 in Dearborn, Michigan.Options for this car include:- GT Equipment group- Pony Interior- Air conditioning (I had to replace the original compressor with an aftermarket, but have the old unit)- Center console- Locking rear differential- Automatic transmission- Seat belts- Seat belt light- Rally Pack (Tachometer and clock)- Power steering - Power convertible top- Original Palomino Mustang floor matsThe previous owner did add different wheels and tires that would have come with this car originally. He chose to use 15 inch tires married to the aluminum 10 spoke wheels commonly used on the early Shelby Mustangs. I think they look great with the car and kept them. As I stated earlier this is a factory GT, as confirmed by the previous owner and these additional facts as found at www.kcode.net/GT65-66.htm- The VIN has an A in the 5th character on the VIN stamped on the inside of the engine bay and on the driver's door data plate. All GTs in 1965 had 4 barrel carburetors and those were only available with the A or K code engines.- There are special reinforcements for the dual exhaust under the rear seat and in the rear frame rail. "Tribute" GTs will not have the reinforcements in the rear frame rail.- It has front disc brakes and has the larger single master cylinder under the hood.- When the fog light switch is turned on the rear lights light up as well. This is a condition only factory GTs have since that is how the car was wired when manufactured.- The car has a faster steering box 16:1 ratio, larger sway bar, stiffer front coils and rear springs and heavy duty shock absorbers. - Dual exhaust, GT emblems, GT stripes, Fog lightsThis car is a strong runner, great fun, and a real head turner.
