CAR DESCRIPTION FROM SELLER
Hello everyone and thanks for taking the time to view my incredible 1966 Chevelle SS396 4 Speed that's still adorned in it's original Tuxedo Black paint. Yes, the paint is original and yes, it is rough, but these awesome big block Chevelles are only original once. The paint is fading, chipped, and missing in some places, but it looks so menacing. Honestly, have you seen a meaner looking 66 SS396? I haven't, which is why I fell in love with it. This Chevelle has a wonderful story to go along with it as well, but before we get into it's story, I want to clarify a few things up front. The paint, from what I can tell and from what I've been told, is all original to the car. The interior is also all original to the car, but the engine is not. The original engine was blown up very early in this cars life. I've been told that this car was always an L78 car, but I have no real proof other than the previous owners statement and the fact that it does have a factory GM original 7k knee knocker tach that relines at 6000rpm. This is an L78 only tachometer and a very rare piece to find. I do know beyond a shadow of a doubt that this car came from the factory with an M21 4 speed transmission with the extremely rare original A-A coded Tuxedo Black paint along with factory bucket seats and factory console shift. An all original paint black on black bucket seat SS396 4 speed is extremely rare without even taking into account the engine horse power rating. Regardless, it does have a 1967-1968 4 bolt main L-78 motor under the hood. It also has 1966 date coded L78 heads and a factory Winters aluminum intake. It has the L78 only pulley along with it's original Harrison radiator that still has it's VX tag and finger guard still in place. With that said, besides the motor, this Chevelle is a very rare, very original car. I've had the car for about a year and have really enjoyed the car. It runs, drives, shifts, handles, and responds just as you'd expect a well cared for muscle car to act. I wouldn't be afraid to drive this Chevelle across the country at any given time. It is a great car that has never let me down. It's extremely reliable and it doesn't give me any trouble. Please look over all of the pictures that I took of this glorious Chevelle, so you'll know exactly what you're looking at regarding this Chevelle. You'll notice that the body does have its fair share of dings, chips, and thin spots, but you won't find any real rust anywhere on it. The bottom of the quarter panels, the bottom of the doors, the bottom of the fenders, the floor pans, the trunk, and all the other spots that these cars typically rust at are all basically free of any rust and rot. This body is the kind of survivor body that we all hope to find on a classic muscle car. The way that you see it here, is the way that I bought it and although I've done a little tuning and what not, this car is still just about as original as she can be. I will add more to this Chevelle's description tonight when I have more free time, but in the mean time, please see the pics below. Here are several pictures that should tell the tale of this awesome Chevelle's current condition:
