1954 Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn, chassis number SPG15. A "big boot, large bore" car, owned since 2004 by current caretaker, a fifteen-year member of Rolls-Royce Owners' Club. Tudor grey and shell grey exterior with red interior. Unusual bench front seat. All mechanical systems were extensively overhauled between 2005 and 2008 by Hebert Services, Metairie, Louisiana. The car has been driven approximately 13,000 miles since then. Wood refinished and headliner replaced by Bassett Classic Restorations. Coker Classic radial whitewall tires. Comes with jack and starter crank, but no small tools. Car is driven regularly around town and on Rolls-Royce Owners' Club tours, completing 1,200 trouble-free miles on recent Natchez Trace tour from Natchez, Mississippi to Nashville, Tennessee and back. An excellent car for weekend trips and/or touring. One year US membership in Rolls-Royce Owners' Club included with purchase.Silver Dawns are relatively rare, being produced from 1949 to 1955 and only 760 units were produced during this time. Right-hand drive models are rarer still, as the model was intended largely for the export market in cash-strapped post-World War II This car was reportedly delivered new to Donald F.S. Henderson, a Scottish jeweler. Rolls-Royce Owners' Club records have placed the car in the United States as early as 1972. |
