CAR DESCRIPTION FROM SELLER
1974 Scout II 4X4 is all original and 90% complete. Third owner. I have owned it since 2011 but don't have the time to finish it. The 345 V8 has been rebuilt and ran great. I was in the process of fuel injecting it. GM throttle body and all FI parts are included. I have the original carb (2brl) and and extra distributor, valve covers, water pump, marker lights, etc, etc. Specs: 345, 2brl, Auto, Dana 44 front and rear, Dana 20 Transfercase, Track lock on rear, 3:73 gears, disk brake front, drum rear, locking hubs, factory A/C, power steering, power brakes. Many new parts, new gas tank and pickup tube, original seats and upholstery. Missing: headliner, floor mat, 1 hubcap, 1 piece of trim, and roof rack. Suspension is all original. Radio works. Electrical is in original condition. Running gear has been completely gone through except the front axle. Steering column rebuilt with new ignition/key. All glass present and no cracks. Air pump and emissions are included. A/C compressor, vents, and all parts present. I have the original build sheet, owners manual and paperwork plus an IH service manual. If there is anything I missed that you would like to know, message me.When I first got the scout the engine had two bad rod bearings and a bad main bearing but it still ran. Engine was completely rebuilt, .030 over, new cam/lifters, timing gears, etc. Removed transmission pan, adjusted bands, replaced filter/fluid,input seal, flushed converter, replaced shifter cable. Removed transfer case, flushed and inspected, replaced input and output seals and gear oil. New u-joints in rear drive line. Removed rear diff cover, flushed, replaced axle seals and bearings, replaced gear oil and trac-loc additive. Replaced rear brake pads, rebuilt slave cylinders, flushed all break lines, replaced master cylinder, rebuilt front calipers, cleaned and regreased front wheel bearings and locking hubs. New exhaust down to mufflers. Radiator was cleaned and pressure tested. Rebuilt steering column and replaced ignition key/lock. Replaced fuel tank and pickup/sender assembly. Rebuilt carb but never happy with idle. At that point the scout drove and shifted great, 4wd worked and trac-loc worked. It has 81621 original miles. I made an adapter plate and found a GM throttle body fuel injection, modified distributor for electronic ignition, and tested donor ECM and wiring harness from 1986 GMC van, all ok. Welded O2 sensor bung in exhaust, new O2 sensor included, TBI rebuilt. I can also get a copy of the ALDL logging software for the GM ECM. Logging cable included.Scout has rust in usual locations. Front body wedges are rusted through and need replaced. Rear quarter panels are rusted at top of wheel well, front qrtr's are rusted at rear of front tire. Drivers and passengers side floors have rust where front body mount bolt penetrates and behind rear tire. Frame is solid. Suspension is original heavy duty from build sheet.Right now it will roll but carb/TBI and distributor are not installed. This is an easy project for the right person. Sheetmetal work is not my thing but the parts to finish it are available at IHpartsamerica.com and similar sites. I would love to see it go to a Scout fan and be finished. Message me for a more complete spare parts list. Scout is located in Flagstaff AZ.
