The engine block casting date, “K 5 9” or November 5,1969; located on the LH or driver’s side of the engine block, horizontal surface behind the passenger side cylinder head, had been photographeda. This casting date is consistent with engine assembly date, as seen on the original Protecto-plate which is “1 21” or an engine assembly date of January 21, 1970.2. The engine block casting number, “3963512” or November 5,1969; located on the driver’s or LH side of the engine block, horizontal surface behind the LH side cylinder head, had been photographeda. Casting number “3963512” was only used on 1969 427s and 1970-71 454s.3. This engine block has the provision for an external oil cooler and has four bolt mains, exclusive to 1970 LS6 #512 blocksa. This feature has been photographed.4. Because this engine has its original #512 block, that it’s casting date is in line with all other components (Build sheet, Protecto-Plate, date codes on Transmission, Differential, Carburetor and distributor); it our opinion that even though this block has been re-stamped but is original to this vehicle.B.
