CAR DESCRIPTION FROM SELLER
Offered for sale is my 1939 Ford standard coupe. I never thought I'd sell this car, but it is time for someone else to enjoy it.Below is some general information about it, along with some of the major things I have done to it. I'm sure I will miss something, so interested, serious, buyers can contact me for more details and/or with any questions via e-mail or at 916-832-6060. This coupe is an honest, traditional, 1960's survivor. When I purchased this coupe, it had been sitting since the 1970's, unused and neglected. It represents a nice snapshot in history when flathead powered cars were being upgraded to SBCs. Since I obtained it, I've invested over $4,000 and a lot of hours into getting it back in shape from it's long slumber. I kept receipts of everything I've done to it and will provide those to the new owner. Some details:Stock 39 standard body. The floors are solid, as is the trunk, doors, rockers and fenders. This was a CA car all it's life. The car was repainted "Chevy/GMC White" in the 60's. The original color is unknown. The engine is a 1963 327 SBC that has 1960's Corvette valve covers and a Holley 4 barrel carb. The 327 is matted to the original 1939 transmission. This was all done in the late 1960's. I added a Stelling & Hellings style air cleaner. It has a Columbia 2-speed rear end. The unit was tested and worked, but I have disconnected it. It will need a vacuum line from the carb hooked up. The coupe will handle freeway speeds no problem without it.It still retains the stock dash and stock interior, however the seat and door panels appear to have been redone in the late 60's/early 70's. The dash was painted a really nice gold color back in the day. I added seat belts and a new, 1939 correct, black rubber floor mat from MACs. All glass is good, with the exception of a crack in the passenger window. Some of the more major things to note:It is licensed/registered with it's original, 1960's California black plates. (the front license plate and bracket are present, but not mounted) I have a clean CA title in hand. For a California buyer, I just paid the registration on January 13th, so you are good until 2021.All new Firestone blackwall bias plys around (700x16s in the rear, 600x16s in the front) (When I purchased the coupe, it had April of 1968 dated whitewall tires on it that were practically brand new.)I had all the wheels powder coated and installed all new US made wheel cylinders and a new US made master cylinder. No "Made in China" parts were used in restoring the brakes.New KYB tube shocks were mounted in the rear.A brand new dual exhaust system with glasspacks was added. The coupe has really nice, but not annoying, rumble to it. New Facet Red Top electric fuel pump. The mechanical fuel pump on the 327 was blocked off due to clearance issues with the original Hurst adapter that was installed in the 1960's. The original gas tank was replaced with a new 16 gallon steel gas tank/sender unit. (same style as stock, just 16 gallons)56 louvers were punched in the hood, which was professionally repainted to match. There was a fist sized dent on the rear, drivers fender that was professionally fixed and repainted.Numerous other smaller bits (i.e. hoses, brackets, lines, belts, fluids, air cleaner, etc.) replaced or upgraded. The 4 front and rear bumper guards are also present, but not shown in the photos. They can be swapped in for a different look.Overall, if you are looking for a solid, traditional styled 39 standard, this one would be hard to beat. The car is located in Roseville, CA, which is near Sacramento. Shipping is up to the buyer. Once again, please feel free to call me at the number listed above or e-mail for more info. I also have a couple of videos of it running and a walk-around I can text or e-mail. Thanks.
