Happy February! Fresh out of our inventory, and up for NO RESERVE auction - we have up for this heart-warmingly nostalgic one owner 1978 Ford Mustang II, that is ready to have that little bit more work done to it to start cruising around again or a fresh restoration to get it to your desired state. Let me tell you a bit more about about this groovy time piece, Inline 4 cylinder (2.3 Liter), Automatic Transmission, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Crank Windows, AM/FM Stereo, Console Shifter, Bucket Seats. Custom original (Period Correct) Cragar S/S 4 lug Mag Wheels. Included one extra sport rim of different design and brand as well as the factory spare tires. Functioning in dash (Rallye Gauge-Tachometer!) Radio works great, Heat and Fan works, blend valves for Defroster and Floor heat are also working well. The odometer is 50,930 and judging by the preserved condition of the car and former owner's passion for the vehicle I would believe that this is original Un-Lapped over mileage.Mechanical Condition: The car runs very nice, starts right up under it's own power every time. Goes in gear nice and does drive. The Brakes will need to be gone through as the pedal goes to the floor. Upon inspection of the undercarriage I can say that all the lines look to be intact and I most positively narrowed the problem back to a bad master cylinder. Since i've had the car, I replaced the fuel pump, put a new air filter in the car and installed a smaller external fuel tank (6 Gallon) with some fresh lines so that the car could be moved and driven with a fresh fuel source. Muffler is a bit loud, could stand to be replaced. The original tank in the car seems to not have any leaks from what I inspected, however my limited time, budget and facilities for this vehicle have prevented me from getting into full brakes and fuel system overhaul. With honestly a few days worth of work this Mustang would be a sweet daily driver. Interior: The interior on this car is in very nice condition, the dashboard, headliner, carpet, rear seats all in very nice condition. The front seats are also intact and free of any major rips, however do show signs of natural wear and aging. Body, Chassis and Undercarriage: The Body on this car is quite solid for a late 70's Ford Product. As you may be able to see in the photographs provided, there is a dent on both the driver & passenger side front fenders which definitely look workable to someone with the correct body tools. not much rot on body a little on the lip of front fenders and rear quarter panels. Frame\Unibody is super solid, frame and chassis components such as control arms, coil springs, rear leafs are all intact. Floors are solid, trunk pan is also mostly solid.Paint: The paint on the car is actually quite nice considering the age, trunk portion has flaked off a bit. it is a Baby Blue shade with faded white pin-striping (pinstriping was commonly done after the vehicles reached the dealership, which may mean this Mustang could have been in the dealership's showroom when new) Tires: The car needs a new set of tires all around, 3 hold air steadily and the passenger side rear will hold air temporarily (about a day) so can definitely be aired up to be driven onto a trailer. Glass: All Glass is there, Back and driver\passenger side windows are all in good shape. Windshield has about a 9 inch hairline crack but not spider webbing. Title Status, Vehicle History and Extra Fun Facts: This Vehicle has a clear New York State title in the original owner's name. With the sale of this vehicle you will also receive a Polaroid photograph from 1985 when it was close to new, original metal dealership stamp (trunk badge) from Patchogue Ford, where it was purchased in Long Island, NY. NOTE: This vehicle is Sold entirely AS IS, WHERE IS, ALL SALES FINAL. The Buyer is fully responsible for the pick up and transport of this vehicle. |
