CAR DESCRIPTION FROM SELLER
Ford 50-1 ½ ton truck for sale. The title says "Year first sold is 1935", but the VIN puts it as a 1936. This is the long wheelbase version of these increasingly rare trucks. This truck runs and drives good, but needs to have the interior re-installed along with some instrument hook-up. Lights work and I have the interior parts. My brother and I purchased this truck not running and it was partially disassembled from a friend of ours in the central coast area of California. He had owned the truck for 25 years. The original motor was locked up so I had the motor disassembled and checked over. The block magna-fluxed good and is re-buildable, but the crank is cracked. While looking for a 1935 crank we came across a good running larger displacement 1953 Mercury flathead so we stripped the accessories off and dropped it in with as many original parts as we could. Apparently these 1953 Mercury flatheads were the last and largest of the flatheads and are sought after for swaps. We did keep the 1953 oil filter on the motor as it looked really cool. The donor motor has two new water pumps, professionally rebuilt original 1935 carburetor, new wires, and hoses. We also converted the electrical system over to 12 volts for reliability as we intended to drive this truck to the local weekly car show and the whole thing looks pretty original. The trucks original factory vacuum boosted brakes work well. We had the original rims sanded & powder coated and 5 new Firestone 7 -20.0 tires (at $2500.00) installed only a couple months ago (including the spare tire). With the exception of the cab roof seam the truck is pretty much rust free, The original disassembled flathead motor and accessories are included in the deal along with another 1953 crankshaft. All in all, a really sanitary truck that appears not to be missing much of anything. If you wish to rebuild the original motor, you have all the parts less a 1935 crankshaft, but the currently installed Mercury flathead engine and spare crankshaft are worth some bucks to help pay for the rebuild. Tail lights and horn are good OEM aftermarket style products. The truck has what appears to be the original cargo tie downs and cast iron stake bed pockets. Title is clear and custom plate “35 TRUCK” goes with it. No trades and local pickup is preferred.
