This is a one of kind original 1969 Chevrolet C10 CST. This was a one-owner original truck that was owned by Frank and Karen. The truck was actually found in an insulated garage (instead of the usual old barn) in St Paul, Minnesota. Frank was an avid drag racer in the 60s and 70s and needed a truck to pull his drag car across the country to events. He spec’d out his puller truck on December 4th of 1968 at Merit Chevrolet in St Paul, Minnesota. Frank kept the original hand written work order with his specs for pulling; 350ci Heavy Duty, HD Battery, Custom Sport Truck Trim, Upper molding, Gauges and Factory Tach, HD Shocks, Front Stabilizer Bar, Tinted Glass, Wide Ratio 4-Speed, Right Door & Glove box lock, Wood Bed Floor, Auxiliary Rear Leaf Springs (overload springs so it rides like a ½ ton until a trailer or weight is put on the truck), Chrome bumper. This was all spec’d for him to pull his drag cars. He purchased the truck as spec’d on January 3, 1969 and he kept the original Bill of Sale from Merit Chevrolet. Later he added aftermarket air conditioning and a topper for him to sleep in at the races and while traveling. The AC condenser is in the truck but not charged/working. The topper was made by Blue Star from Wadena, Minnesota and was purchased from John’s Camper Sales in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The topper is in absolute excellent condition inside and out. It has the original orange vinyl pads for the bed and small seats in the back. There is zero water damage or dents, these Toppers are nearly impossible to find in this condition. The 350 has a Edelbrock intake and carburetor with an adjustable fuel meter. Otherwise the engine appears to be stock. I installed new spark plugs, new plug wires, air filter, fresh fluids, carb was tuned and it runs and idles really well. The truck has dual exhaust and one side of the exhaust is completely new from the front, the other side is new from ½ way back but both sides have new mufflers and pipes out the back. The fuel tank is also new in the truck. The tranny is a wide-ratio 4-speed with a granny 1st gear. It is equipped with disc-brakes in the front and drum in the rear. Frank had taken the interior out of the truck to re-paint it in 1989 which was the last time it was driven. He never finished putting the interior back together and he passed away in 1995. He wife Karen finally decided to sell the truck and I purchased it and put it back to how he had it. The seat appears to have been recovered in the 80s at some point. The carpet is brand new; the dash, door panels, headliner and visors are original. He had a vinyl connector for the cab of the truck and the topper. This was not salvageable so we had a new vinyl connector custom made. The rear window is not installed but it comes with the truck. Frank had installed a drag racing steering wheel (which is now vintage and so cool) and a Hurst shift lever on the stick. All the gauges work including the Factory Tach which is really rare in these trucks. The bodywork is all original and incredibly straight. It appears that he had done some bodywork to the lower doors and rocker panels near the front of them which is fairly common. The underside of the truck is very clean with normal surface rust. The wood bed floor looks perfect from under the truck. It is getting harder to find original trucks that have not been cut up and modified. This is a true incredibly clean survivor that runs and drives great with 97,500 miles. I have all the documentation including the Original Quote and Bill of Sale along with numerous framed photos of Frank drag racing. |
