CAR DESCRIPTION FROM SELLER
Vehicle History as I know it: Purchased by prior owner in 2004 from a California auction. He bid on it unseen and had it transported to Idaho, where his wife used it in the summer for six years. I purchased it in 2010. The New Mexico title is clear. I believe it was a frame on restoration prior to 2004. Mechanics & Engine: The engine is a 365, 285 h.p., V-8 from a 1956 Cadillac, # 566010520. It is not original to this car, so the actual mileage and condition is not known. The current odometer reading is 93,600. The carburetor is rebuilt with ethanol resistant gaskets. It has an electronic ignition and newer distributor cap and wires. I installed a new battery as of Jan 31, 2020. Exterior: Paint is Pecos Beige #42. Paint job is still shiny. If you look really close, you can see some fine sanding marks near the fin areas, but they’re not visible in the pics. The stainless trims are good overall and include door edge guards. The driver’s door glass, the windshield and the rear window appear to have been replaced. On the original windows, there is yellowing at the edges from age. Exterior by Side: Hood: There are some paint chips as shown in the pictures, and there is a gap difference at the fenders on both sides even though the hood is overall in very good condition, as seen in the pics. Passenger Side: Some bondo work is starting to show. See pics of this and at the back skirt. I added an aftermarket side mirror on this door. Trunk: The trunk is in very good condition. The driver rear back light is where the gas cap is hidden. The trunk has the jack, stand, the lug wrench and the chock. They appear to all be original. The trunk has new carpet throughout. I added a third brake light on the license frame. Driver Side: As shown in the pics, there is some paint cracking at driver door. Forgot to say driver's door needs adjustment. Chrome: Chrome is in very good condition, with some minor scuffs and stone chips. It really shines and it’s beautiful. Tires: The tire size is P235/75R15. The approximate tread depth is 8/32” on all four and 11/32” on the spare. The tires are Coker Classic wide whitewalls on Coker wheels. The spare is also a Coker but it’s a black wall. The hub caps are the spoke type. There are pictures showing how to remove them properly without damaging them. I can discuss with the buyer after purchase. Undercarriage: Body integrity is good. No holes in the floor or frame. Frame is straight. There is what’s called daily driving wear even though it is not driven often. Interior: The seats and door panels have been re-upholstered in the correct materials and colors, and they are in very good condition. There are seat belts in the front seat. I have seat belts for the rear, but have not installed them. They come with the car. The carpet is very good overall. The headliner is in excellent condition and includes chromed bows. The dashboard cover is excellent, as are the other padded and painted areas. The steering wheel and column are in very good condition with normal wear. The speedometer, odometer and trip meter all work. The fuel gauge works but is not accurate. There is a switch under the dash for the electric fuel pump which must remain on in order to get fuel. This was installed by the prior owner. The temperature gauge works. The heater, defroster, the horn, the (halogen) headlights, tail lights and signals all work. The windshield wipers don’t work, but the sale includes a brand new electric motor to replace the old vacuum system. The wind shield washer feature is inoperable. The transmission works as it should. The original clock and radio don’t work. I am a master cabinet maker, and I custom made a console on the floor to house the stereo and two cup holders. It is made with solid red oak. I included a red oak tambor (like a rolltop desk) sliding cover over the cup holders. You can lift the cup holders out and access the fuses for the four-way flashers and the 12-volt auxiliary power outlet (for charging a cell phone, for instance). The tambor theme I used matches the factory-made ashtrays in the back seat. The CD is always hot and must be ejected after ignition is turned off. The battery switch also will accomplish this. The thresholds are very good along with the door jambs. Both doors need to have the weather stripping replaced, but I am including brand new weather stripping for the new owner. The power seats work along with the power windows. The rear window motors are a bit sluggish. The door locks are manual. Also included with the sale are one set of keys original to the car, and two sets of duplicates. Miscellaneous: There are usual fluid leaks for a 65 year old vehicle. The steering box needs to be rebuilt. The service manuals come with the car. I am also including trophies and plaques won at various car shows in New Mexico, as well as receipts for parts and work done. In one picture, you will see that I am including a lot of parts for the car. Here is a list that’s included with the sale: 1 set of door weather stripping for both doors 1 master cylinder brake kit 2 front cylinder brake kits 2 rear cylinder brake kits 3 headlight adjusting screws 1 national oil seal #240151 4 Autolite #86 spark plugs 1 Wix fuel filter #33034 1 box of unused carburetor parts left over from upgrade to ethanol resistant gaskets 1 oil sender switch 1 water sender switch 4 used brake shoes 2 front parking lamp trims 2 rear ashtrays 3 seat belts 1 ignition coil 1 fuel pump (mechanical) never been used 1 original glass type fuel filter 1 passenger door striker 2 wiper blades that originally came with the car 1 pair of used license back trims (lenses) 1 used map light 1 used ashtray lid 1 Wix oil filter #51006 1 electronic wiper unit mentioned above, made by Newport Engineering 4 hub caps 2 spoke hubcaps 1 pair of fender skirts 2 shop manuals 1 original batwing air filter The total value of the extras in the trunk is well over $1,000.
