I acquired this cool truck in New York State around 2012, then sold it in 2016 to a friend of mine. In 2019 when my friend bought a different truck, I bought it back! Now it’s time for something very different and I am offering it for sale again. It is a remarkably fun truck and every trip it gets attention even if you are just at the gas station. It drives nicely, runs on the highway well, and is simply a fun truck that was made when metal was metal! The natural sun-driven patina’s finish has been protected, it shows no signs of rust or oxidation beyond how it was intended when it was restored as it is now, and it is legal, licensed and on the road and has been stored inside (as it is now) when not being driven. The front dual glass is in good shape other than a small chip on one side. Both side windows have a crack. As many know, parts for the 53 Chevy are plentiful online - with essentially every component on this truck easily ordered online. The headliner is worn but great - but I can imagine some people might want to replace door seals and things like that. Personally, I am not interested in doing so because I like it the way it is and also, somewhere you draw the line and say (as I did), this is a fun inexpensive ride that brings me great joy but I might feel different about it if I started pouring money in to upgrade this, or replace that when it is a great driving pickup truck that gets plenty of attention and is thoroughly dependable as it is right now. This 1953 Chevy C3100 pickup features the original inline overhead valve, six-cylinder Thriftmaster 216.5 cubic-inch engine. Its bore and stroke is 3.5 inches by 3.75 inches, with a compression ratio of 6.6:1. It generated 84 net horsepower at 3,400 rpm. Its maximum torque rating was 170 pound-feet at 1,000 to 2,000 rpm. The engine is competent, the truck runs nicely, the three on a tree shifts perfectly, the clutch is great, reverse is sensational, the lights, heat/blower, even the vacuum driven wipers all operate and we use it almost every day during the summer for something - usually a run into town (we live in a country house). Press the starter and this truck is ready to drive. It is currently licensed and on the road near Toronto, Canada - though in storage at this time on account of the winter! It was upgraded to a 12v battery and the alternator ought to be upgraded as well. At the moment, once a month I put it on an overnight trickle charger to be sure it has a full charge. That might be on the to-do list for a new owner. This car is ready to be driven or shipped and will not disappoint. Please ask if you have any questions. Shipping must be arranged by the purchaser (though I can help), payment must be in full prior to any delivery and payment is by cleared money order, e-transfer, PayPal or cash. Payment within three days please. Ownership is clean and clear and the truck comes with title papers. The actual mileage is unknown - the speedo is not working. |
