1960 Porsche 356B T5 Full metal 1960 Porsche 356B (T5) in gray primer. Original metal body, doors, hood. New rocker panels and door sills. Includes transferable registration, license plate, serial number data plate, and door hinge covers with original serial number tags and paint code tag (#608/6006 silver metallic). Both door hinge covers have the last 3 digits of the serial number stamped on back. Included in sale- Porsche 5 speed transmission from a 1965 911 (type 901 transmission). Porsche 914 1911cc engine, fresh rebuild with zero miles (with Porsche serial number). Includes real Italian Weber carbs stamped “Brevetatto” and “Bologna” (made in Italy, not Spain or China). Porsche exhaust, new old stock, just dirty. Still has factory price code stickers on it. Jake Raby DTM (down the middle) cooling system to convert Porsche 914 engine to upright. Could use a coat of wrinkle paint, either black or red. (Jake used black on his shop car, see photo). Shroud has “Raby Aircooled Technology” (R.A.T.) and “DTM” stamped on aluminum ID tag with serial number. Shortened VW pan with disc brakes and an adjustable drop front suspension. Four date stamped matching rims stamped “Mangle” and “Made in Brazil” (not China). You can modify the VW pan and mount the body to it, or remove the VW pan and just use the VW backbone. Porsche 356 replacement pans cost $294 for the set, and 356 “longitudinals” cost $62 each. So for $418 you could have correct Porsche 356 pans, longitdinals, rocker panels, and door sills- all in new fresh metal. Body was clipped for easy storage, not by me. This was common back in the day. It will need to be tacked back together. All 3 pieces are from the same original car and fit together well. Door bottoms have been recently repaired and are very solid. Has complete dash including glove-box door. Car will require final metal prep before paint. You can choose to finish the motor in one of 3 ways, Jake Raby DTM cooling, 911 style cooling, or a retro/vintage 356 look (see photos). If you don't want the DTM style you could easily sell the that kit and use the money to buy the needed parts for a different style. I like to finish my 914 upright motors with “Carrera” style valve covers (see photos). This car is also an excellent candidate for an electric conversion. You could use all of the VW running gear and disc brakes. They sell an electric engine kit that bolts directly to the Porsche transmission bell housing (early Porsche and VWs use the same pattern bell housing). Body not currently attached to pan. Door and panel gaps will be much better after final fitment. Doors held on in photos by bungee cords only.... I have included sample photos for reference of the following items that are not included in the sale. They are all clearly labeled on the photos as “example only”. 356 floor pans and longitudinals. VW backbone. VW pan adapter kit for 356 bodies. 914 motor converted to upright with DTM shroud. 914 motor converted to upright with 911 style cooling fan. 914 motor converted to upright with stock VW parts in vintage style (“Cali” conversion). Most if not all of the parts needed to finish this car are available and affordable through aftermarket suppliers. All the exterior trim, door handles, window cranks, interior, seats, gauges, hubcaps, etc. are available through kit car companies and/or VW supply warehouses. The Porsche factory actually used many VW bug parts on the early 356 cars. When finished this car will be a 100% metal 356, with a Porsche 356 serial number, a Porsche 5 speed transmission, a Porsche 2 liter engine, upgraded suspension, and disc brakes. There's still a lot of finish work to be done, but all the major components are there and once done this car will continue to appreciate in value . You can stick with the Porsche factory paint code of “silver metallic” or choose any color you want. For $100 Porsche will send you the original build specifications for this exact car including factory carpet and interior upholstery colors. Put it back to factory specs, or build it as an “Outlaw 356” and choose whatever paint, interior, wheels, bumpers, etc. you want. Please ask all question before bidding.
