CAR DESCRIPTION FROM SELLER
This is a real deal GTX. The first year GTX production. Only 680 GTX convertibles were made of 12,010 GTX’s in 1967. The Galen’s registry of MOPAR has collected data on only 41 known to remain as of September 30, 2006 in the US and 2 in Canada. The GTX was the top of the line “B” body MOPAR muscle car. Known as the Gentleman's hot rod. With only two engine choices, the smallest engine they put in a ’67 GTX was the famous 426 Hemi. This car is equipped with the almost as legendary, 440 Super Commando standard equipment. Numbers matching. This car has all the original running gear. The original High Performance 440 was rebuilt in 2016 and has less than 1200 miles on it. The 727 transmission, also rebuilt, shifts normal and solid. The rear end is the original 3.23:1. The front end and complete brake system was rebuilt at the same time. Power steering and brakes as well. The car was born with soft yellow exterior color with black interior and black top. A previous owner did an exterior color change to black. When I bought the car, I thought the body work was poor and so I had the car professionally redone. This was my dream car. There was a tradeoff of returning it to the yellow color for originality (worst in my opinion) or make the car really stand out as it does with the black. I never intended to sell the car but life can throw a curve at any time. It was gorgeous in triple black so I added red stripes which was an option in ‘67. The whole car was stripped to bare metal and all previous body work was cut out and new metal welded in wherever needed. Straight now, the paint is two stage with the stripes painted in. Several coats of color and clear to keep the car polished and repolished for years to come. Most of the trim is original, either polished or re-chromed. The glass is original with the exception of the new tinted windshield. It rides on optional but stock 14" Magnum 500 wheels and the modern red stripe radials, including the matching spare. Most of the interior is new with the exception of the door panels and console shell. The convertible top is new with properly working power function. All gauges work as original. Reliable, cool running, smooth driving, it’s a strong runner and sounds great with stock exhaust. There is lots of potential to get more power out of it if that’s your choice but at present its all stock. Makes for a stunning parade car and a fun Sunday cruiser. Included is the original window sticker, manual and a binder of data related to the history of this particular car and GTX production statistics.
