1972 Buick Riviera Boat Tail. The car is gorgeous, fast and rare. Stratomist Blue with White Madrid Vinyl 60/40 split seats, black carpets and door panels. Garaged for most of its life and well maintained by two owner/mechanics, this mostly original survivor is a real head turner. External – Body is in excellent condition, no dents or major scratches. Paint is a respray and has orange peel, making this a ten footer car. All lines are straight, and the car passes the magnet test for previous work. There is no rust or rot on the car, but there is some small bubbling on one C pillar. To my knowledge, the car is accident free and the engine and tranny are original and numbers matching. Chrome is very good, with some pitting around the rear tail lamps, and some misting on the bumper in areas. The front bumper is drooping on the left side and needs tightening, but the rubber trim is intact. Glass is perfect, electric windows work, though the right rear needs coaxing. All lights work, including fiber optic fender light indicators, and the blue LED lights in the grill added by the previous owner. Interior – Front seats are 60/40 split bench seats in White Madrid Vinyl. Carpets, door panels and trim are black, carpets are new. The front seats were reupholstered by me, back seats were unused. Door panels could use a refresh, and I have included two replacement lower door panels with the sale. Dash is in excellent shape with no cracks. All electric options work, including electric windows, locks, seats and cruise control. The radio has been replaced with a Kenwood system with a removable head, and the original radio is included. The previous owner also added a kill switch under the dash. Mechanical – Car will cruise all day at 85mph. I have owned this car for 4 years, and purchased it from a friend who had it in his family. I am not a dealer or speculator, and this is a personal car. I am available for any questions, and can provide more photos or video. This car has been well maintained and garaged most of her life. I have done regular services on the car, including oil and filters. I replaced the tie rods, had the transmission serviced, replaced fuel hoses, replaced the rear brake cables and emergency brake cable, and completely removed and reconditioned the gas tank. The car is equipped with a 455 cubic inch engine with about 225-250 horsepower. The previous owner added Edelbrock upgrades to improve performance, as well as Cherry Bomb mufflers. The sound is incredible and the car sounds like a WWII fighter plane on the highway. CHECK OUT THE VIDEO OF THE CAR SHOOTING FLAMES FROM THE EXHAUST! I added Ridler 695 chrome wheels, with lower profile tires, 17 inch in front, 18 in back. Issues – The previous owner removed the A/C from the car, including the compressor. In the process he tied off the heater control wires so it has limited movement. Heat works fine though. Highest fan setting is not working, all others settings work fine. Tilt wheel is broken. The wheel can be moved if pulled hard enough without lever. Possibly the steering box should be replaced. The paint is a respray that has a lot of orange peel. It has a few bubbles on one C pillar, and the car can use a repaint. The Riviera is a rare car, with a design that is unusual and iconic. It has the color, the chrome rims and the loud snarl of a muscle car that will turn heads every time.
