The one we have at Skyway Classics has the V8 engine, the great color combo of red exterior and interior, and very desirable because of the original owner is selling this icon of a car. Mechanical This T-Bird has had a complete original restoration on the hardtop/soft top convertible. Under the hood is the Thunderbird Special 292 cubic inch V8 engine. The correct factory red engine block, it has Thunderbird's special valve covers, all other factory engine components, and the pie dish air topper with correct diaphragm surrounding half of it. This motor inhales deeply through a four-barrel carburetor, and it exhales out of the dual exhaust. The V8 is backed with a three-speed manual transmission and underneath is as clean, painted, and detailed as up above. It runs and drives exceptionally well. Interior The red and white interior was re-upholstered, the dash repainted red with all the correct gauges and radio, and the red carpet was replaced giving the interior the look it did coming right out of the showroom back in 1955. A complete restoration was done to original specifications including the soft top and the painted-restored red hard top. Exterior There are no other 1955 Thunderbirds that are more desirable than this first-ever Red on Red T-Bird. The chrome really sets the Thunderbird apart as does the wraparound front bumper, wide mesh grille, subtle hood scoop, and the twin tailpipes integrated through the rear bumper guards. The factory wheels and Ford hubcaps are correct as is the wide whitewall tires. The wheel well fender flares give it the final correct look too. Conclusion This a stunning 1955 Ford Thunderbird that we have here at Skyway Classics is very nice and restored. The Thunderbird was Henry Ford's response to the Chevrolet Corvette, and no one could have predicted the success the Thunderbird would have. The Thunderbird's first year of production literally outsold the Corvette more than 23 to 1. This T-Bird is more than just nostalgic, it is iconic and a car that will evoke envy from everyone who sees you driving it. Give us a call at 941-254-6608.
