International Harvester always had an implied ruggedness because they had more industrial vehicles in their bloodlines than their competitors. The vigor of this 4x4 is furthered by the fiery red paint, which is the perfect color for an off-roader that wants to stand out even when it's in nature. Plus, this one has some nice upgrades like the step-up rear chrome bumper, chrome exhaust tips, and fender flares. That last feature is especially important because they help surround the deep dish 15-inch chrome wheels with meaty tires for good traction on most surfaces. The versatility of the Scout is even further highlighted by the fact it is essentially, a convertible. What makes this one extra special is that it includes three tops to choose from depending on what you want to do that day. There's the full convertible top to keep you buttoned up but ready for sunny weather at a moment's notice. Plus, there are two bikini tops - one tan and one black - so you can choose the color for keeping the sunshine off your shoulders. The interior is one you won't find on many Scouts. The special saddle vinyl trim was only available with the optional bucket seats. And it looks like someone has made a more recent solid investment here to really show this two-tone off quite nicely. There have been some improvements made over the last four decades, such as spraying Rhino Liner on the floor for added durability and easy cleaning. Amenities are usually a bit sparse on these early utility vehicles, but this one has great-looking dash and plenty of features for everyday comfort. This includes power steering, power brakes, heat/defrost, wood grain steering wheel, and a modern AM/FM/CD with a USB input to plug in your phone. The center console even has cup holders - a rare find on a 1970s truck. For safety sake, there are seatbelts for all four occupants, and this Scout was upgraded to a full roll bar for added security. 1975 was a great year to own a Scout. The suspension was beefed up for a stronger carrying capacity. Another great feature if you're going to use this Scout for heavy work is the optional 304 cubic-inch V8 motor. It is mated to a three-speed manual transmission, and there are front disc brakes for better stopping power. This Scout's four-wheel drive system is the more desirable and stouter two-speed transfer case that was optional over a push-button single-speed system. So while this might look like a great original vehicle for Sunday cruising, just know that it also has the right combo for true 4x4 toughness. In fact, Scouts hit that perfect sweet spot where they are not a common sight, but also enough were produced so you don't have to worry about finding spare parts. The sale come complete with the owner's manual build receipts, and service manuals. A Scout is always interesting no matter if you're showing up to the car show or the campsite, and this one has the skills to be enjoyed at both. Call today!!!
