The Series 3 Jaguar E Type marked the final iteration of the beloved XKE name. Built on a longer chassis, the update E Type offered a number of spacial and stylistic upgrades in addition to a new 5.3L V12 engine. The new all-aluminum powerplant featured a single overhead cam and four Zenith carburetors. It was the first entirely new engine from Jaguar since the XK120’s 3.4L inline 6 and was initially developed for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Series 3 marks a slight change in focus towards grand touring, offering increased comfort and drivability with a longer wheelbase allowing for more interior room and space for the larger engine. The interior updates were welcome changed for both critics and consumers, with high praises given to the new dashboard, gauges, and trim. This beautiful example has been a long-time ward of Automotive Restorations with a substantially documented history. With 80,000 original miles and a recipient of a high-quality restoration, this XKE drives beautifully and attracts attention wherever it goes. |
